Seriously, even the weakened MSFT could still blow any of these so-called
"internet giants" out of the water with a cough in their direction.

Again, I see no flaws in your logic. What you described could logically happen. But in reality, it's not likely to happen. I don't mean impossible. Yes, MSFT is the only giant in my mind that has the power to skew the landscape. But increasingly, it doesn't seem MSFT is capable or committed to do so. MSFT is too self-addicted to its windows-conquer-all mentality. And MSFT hasn't made any right moves except for crushing NSCP. Looks like the Net is demonopolizing everything MSFT has tried so hard to monopolize. Day by day, the future is slipping away from MSFT.

So, you want to bet that unknown competitor to come out? What if you are staring at one already? Even if that so called unknown competitor will come out tomorrow as a new IPO, can you recognize it and confident enough to put money in it?

So what do you do? Wait forever? When you finally found that competitor, it has already become so overvalued just like the way AMZN and EBAY look like today. Nothing good is cheap, man. I feel I have been scratching the bottom of your heart already. No offense intended, just for argument purposes.
