I think unemployment was more like 30% in the depression - to focus on the %age that actually had jobs is neat but a bit of a red herring! My point is this: There may be a potential disaster if the gold carry trade unravels - many politicians will close ranks and not want to dig too deep if they perceive this to be a strong possibility. On the other hand - markets being markets - I wonder why some brave souls aren't speculating on the unravelling of the GCT? This has puzzled me for some time - candidates - Soros and Buffett - to name two. dd
