Charles, <<feeling paleo channel blue lately>> Me too. One of the objectives for the COC was to prove the paleo-channel mapping. I'm just speculating now, but I think that paleo-channel analysis may be more complex that first believed. It may be that the proxy mobile ions that were believed associated to gold are also strong markers of PGMs, PGMs of lower OPT than equivalent gold. Past assays have shown that ores with high gold shows low PGMs and the opposite when the PGMs are high. To make matters even more complex, PGMs seem to screw up Maxam's standard fire assay for gold. They need to do microwave digestion for assay. More results from the COC will be required to provide the correct understanding. Runyon tells me that recovery will get both gold and PGMs so as long as the metals seen are "precious" is what counts.
