Gillian basically repeated QNTM's guidance in the cc chapter and verse. Not much value-add from her. Personally, I think management has set the bar so damn low, they'll have no problems surpassing it. They are finally firing on all cylinders. Frankly, I would love a price war. It would drive home the message that the indies would have to be more flexible and imaginative regarding strategic business combinations. If Chuck H's head gets served on a platter, I betcha the industry would rally in no time.

I agree with you that downside risk is minimal, and the upside is that drives get valued like WDC, while tape gets valued at 20-25 P/E all the way up to EMC-type valuations. It won't get there overnight, so be patient. (although, it's a shame they don't have a banker leading this deal, as they would if they had followed our IPO idea... look how fast Morgan's Priceline shot up, on the premise that it was the next Ebay. Goldman's Ebay, interestingly, pulled the same trick by being the next Amazon, which was led by the now defunct DMG tech group.)

Regarding SDLT, I dunno if a slip up of a few months is all that scary. This is an awesome platform; LTO is gonna be in for a rough time. I'm not chicken little about Y2K, either, although I do recognize that this tempest has been stirred up to something almost maniacal. SEC disclosure about Y2K contingency plans? I mean, pul-leaze. Finally, I believe that Star Wars mania will add a percentage point to GDP.

p.s. If QNTM's a 3-neutral, does she rate WDC a 5-sell short?
