Its interesting to me that a CFO can move into strategy at Amazon. In my business strategists are former engineers and marketers (I was in strategic planning for a while myself). The openly discourage financial analysis etc. in my biz for the advanced planning people, they think it constrains your thinking a little. Unfortunately now I'm not the best at finding hidden $$ in the financials (some great people at that on the cpq thread)
