still have my short position open,, packed in enuf dough by selling my puts this morning when the premium on MAy contracts was still high

The problem is if this is true. The families of all the victims at Columbine in Colorado may decide to sue the gun dealer and ebay for HUGE amount of money, and you better believe it that the jurors will give them every cents they demand. Since ebay has so much money right now, it could be an easy target for some lawyers.
