The way I understand it, if you are short and a dividend is issued you have to come up with the dividend that same day. Don't know how this will work with north of the border naked style shorts.

No, they can't be short the dividend. If they don't cover their short, they can't cover the dividend...it's a privately held company.

I know some people who have been through this before. One of them is in the management of MDIN. I'll ask details on what to do. I'm sure there are some who won't get the dividend because their brokerage firm allowed someone to sell them stock without deliver certificates. If that happens someone is in deep kimshi.

If my broker doesn't give me the dividend on any unregistered shares I'll simply have a meeting with whoever is short my shares that owes me the dividend and my attorney. I'd may settle for $20 a share in lieu of the dividend. I guess that wouldn't be a bad position to be in.
