Mike...look at it another way ...I've got a company that needs to put 20 different programs on 20,000 Pc's / Laptops and each program needs to be updated 6 times a year but not all on the same schedule that's 120 changes a year * 20,000 end users.

Talk to INTC, MSFT ??? How do I manage the logistics of something this large? How does an end user know that they have the latest version of code?? How much time and effort is needed to manage all of this??

If I can't manage it why buy the Pc's in the first place??

With a server solution I still have to upgrade 20 programs 6 times a year on XXX number of servers.

Today xxx may be 200 servers...in 2 years xxx may only be 50 servers as servers get faster and larger...

What would you rather do update xxx servers or 20,000 PC's/Laptops
The servers may be networked so I can do that in a single site
(computer room) each upgrade event may take an hour or more.

Try doing that over a WAN or remote dialup to 20,000 users in different locations around the USA/or the World.

The server based solution is here to stay...

PS...and tommorow I need to make 3 new programs available to these 20,000 users (just another hour or so of work on the server farm)
