LISTED: C/WIN INVESTOR RELATIONS: Hatim Zaghloul,CEO

COMPANY PROFILE:

Develops and markets patented spread-spectrum wireless local access network (LAN) communication products for wireless networking, high-speed Internet access and remote supervisory control and data acquisition. Licenses its technology to other companies for specific applications in return for ownership, royalties or both.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:

The company's Hopper® and Hopper Plus products have been sold in over 30 countries worldwide.
On Nov. 4, 1998, passed all technical requirements set by the European Telecommunication Standards Institution to implement the company's wireless data communications products in the U.K. Certification opens the door for Wi-Lan products to be used throughout Europe, following minimal tests specific to each country.

Also in November, released details of a contract signed in April of 1998 with Tele2 (U.K.) Ltd., for the supply of a national wireless local loop system that will provide 13.5 megabit per second Internet and intranet service to small and medium-sized businesses in the U.K. Phase one of the project in England's Thames Valley region is expected to bring in $1,600,000 in revenue. Phase II, to be implemented over the next five years, has been designed to generate speeds of 30 megabits per second. Phase II is expected to generate between $75,000,000 to $150,000,000 in revenue for Wi-Lan.

On Nov. 16, 1998, announced a fully-functional prototype wireless unit capable of speeds up to 30 megabits per second. Wi-Lan offered to license its technology in July 1998 to all interested parties in response to the IEEE draft standard 802.11a.

In January 1999, the company completed a three-month restructuring plan in order to focus on providing Internet Protocol (IP) wireless local loop networks and Wide-band Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (W-OFDM) technology and products to the data communications market.

In March 1999, ScotiaMcLeod Inc. was hired to advise the company on the possibilities of a sale of the company or other business arrangements.

Also in March 1999, teamed up with BCT.TELUS Communications Inc. in a point-to-point wireless Internet trial using Wi-LAN's patented multi-code direct sequence spread spectrum wireless technology to deliver fully-managed data communications service and high-speed Internet via radio waves.

On Apr. 20, 1999, announced an upgrade to its Hopper Plus® 45-24 wireless Ethernet bridge. The improvements include IP address filtering, throughput throttling and monitoring that give data network operators, including Internet Service Providers, the tools to monitor and adjust system efficiencies.

Also on Apr. 20, 1999, announced that the company's 4.5 Mbps Hopper Plus wireless Ethernet bridge passed certification by the European Telecommunications Standardization Institute allowing Wi-Lan bridges into the European market.
