Maybe lebo should short awre while he waits for 40, otherwise he seems to be wasting his time, but i guess he will need to ask his "friend"

<<Of course there is no lock on ADSL by any one company,>> Scrapps, for my own clarification, while there is no lock on ADSL, the patent for ADSL/DMT is licensed from Amati which is now owned by Texas Instruments. ADI, Siemens, Alcatel etc are licensees. TI/Amati does receive royalties. It seems that a company that chooses to get their algorithms from Aware must pay royalties twice. Once to Aware for the algorithms, and once to TI/Amati for the ADSL/DMT patent license. Again, if G.lite is just a variant of ADSL/DMT rather than a patent, I would presume that TI/Amati will be able to come up with their own algorithms once the standards are set and bypass, if they haven't already, Aware. It has been mentioned several times by DR.TECH, who seems to be a reasonably knowledgeable insider on the Westell thread, that Texas Instruments will probably sue Aware for patent infringement at some point. If there is an issue I imagine it will be resolved either by cross-licensing, merger or something. All the best, Michael
