From what I know (suspect) AMD did not disable the FPU to achieve the reported speeds. ie the the "DEMO" was just that, a demonstration of a viable commercial product and not a "DEMO" of a "vaporaware" product stunt which may well be achievable in the non too distant future but most definitely not a product at the stage at which it was shown. This is a stunt that iNTEL has performed over the years to counter the marketing efforts of its competitors with road maps of products on a schedule which is published to keep their existing customers loyal. By the way, iNTEL recently, at one of their meetings with analysts, showed a comparative road map of AMD and iNTEL product introductions. Their guesses of actual introductions by AMD was based, I would guess, on the past history of AMD disappointments. This time may be different. (I realize all of the plays on words and ironies that my statement represents.) Take whatever interpretation that suits you. I would, however, give no more credibility to an iNTEL road map of AMD product introductions than I would of an AMD road map of the timing of iNTEL product introductions.

For what it is worth, probably nothing, I just increased my AMD common holdings by 5% to 10% (depends on how the percentage is calculated, since I also have some in IRA accounts and in my children's college funding accounts) this morning shortly after the opening.
