You assume that because I paid it in one year, I make that kind of money every year. Unfortunately, no. I am a plaintiff's attorney, I represent injured people, and I only get paid when I win or settle a case. Some years I make almost nothing. So far this year I have made nothing. The money I made last year was on a case that I worked on almost exclusively for three years. But the government abolished income-averaging, so I have to pay taxes on it as if I were going to make that kind of money every year. Wish I did. It would be nice.
