All,
FWIW, here is the first-hand report I just got from the Days Inn kiosk in Atlanta. The author is a friend of mine who holds no shares of JNNE (but is now interested!) and who is not what you would call a computer geek by any stretch of the imagination. Nor is he an internet junkie. He basically has a computer in the house because his wife wanted e-mail. He plays one or two games and checks his e-mail about once a week. Keep this in mind when he mentions ease-of-use and usefullness/popularity....

Did you get the message I sent from the hotel?
It is a stand alone unit. It was like sitting at a small desk with a 17" screen built into the desk in front of you. There is no mouse. It uses a 3 sq. inch touch pad built into the keyboard. (Hard for a woman with long nails) Instruction were good and simple and easy. The money slot is next to the screen. Twenty cents a minute, 5 min. for a buck. etc. The timer is in the lower corner and you have a tendency to play beat the clock. The message I sent timed out while it was in the send mode so I don't know if it went? I also takes plastic.
You must have AOL to check your own home Email.
The unit was 3ft by 4ft high. It was against the wall so you sat with your back to the center of the room where anyone could look over your shoulder. It should be arranged better for privacy. I didn't like sitting there in my raincoat with the NY Times on my lap viewing www.hooters.com.!!
Talked to the three people behind the counter. They said the activity is constant at night. The hotel also has outlets in the rooms for laptop use. They also said they have the only unit? Is that true?

Personal info. I can see it becoming as popular and as wide spread as a telephone booth. Not for long usage but for the one dollar, 5 min. quick email or message check or look see for something. Has potential.
Keep me abreast.

And no, I didn't get the e-mail he sent. <G>

If this friend found the kiosk easy to use and useful, then I think a net-junkie will find it much more so. I'm very encouraged by this report. Hope this helps.
