If RealNetworks were really saavy, they would merge with DoubleClick, the Internet ad distributor and data collector.

RealNetworks alienates too many of its current customers if it combines with AOL as RealNetworks is used by most website which don't want the added pain of supporting AOL more than they have to.

DoubleClick adds an Internet business with a realistically sustainable business model that also deals with media distribution. With broadband about to explode in the next three years, imagine adding streaming audio and video to ads. A combined company could better develop software that would integrate streaming banners better than current Java technology.

Added plus is that Glaser gets to stay in control of the combined company.

Time Warner possibility - IMHO offers nothing (!!!) to this company. Just look at the personalities involved in TW. I can't foresee Ron putting up with TW management after running things on his own. He won't except a deal that doesn't put him in charge and leaves him independent.
