Like I said MSFT + Linux on the desktop. Linux is making some incredible in-roads and slowly becoming a viable non-techie desktop. Currently MSFT rules though for business commerical quality desktop applications; look at Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project. The bulk of the 3rd party software vendors choose to write code for the 85% PC workstation market rather than the 3% UNIX market; just makes sense. This ensures good price competition and faster inovation cycles. Linux is becoming another contender with IBM, Oracle, Informix, Sybase and a whole host of other big vendors starting to support them. Bottom line is UNIX workstation sales will take the brunt of this hit.
