OT - I know that old story, and here's the answer:

The chicken and the egg are in bed together. The chicken is lying back, big smile on its face, smoking a cigarette. The egg is sitting up, has its arms folded, wearing a big frown and muttering to himself, "well, I guess that answers that question . . . "
