Edwarda, you're preaching to the choir. And I am singing, "Amen, sister! Tell it like it is!"

In the immortal characterization of Nero Wolfe, pfui.

A literary interlude in this philsophical discussion:

I ADORE Nero Wolfe. I wish I could find a legitimate substitute, since the 12th time through some of his books is wearing my copies thin.

Let's see whether anybody can suggest some superb mystery writers I haven't run across yet. I will offer, probably old hat to most here, but maybe one or two unfamiliar names:

Dorothy Sayers, Ngaio Marsh, Dick Francis, Tony Hillerman, Ross McDonald, Josephine Tey. There are lots of second raters, but I view all these as first raters. If you haven't read Tey's "Daughter of Time" it is a MUST read.
