I hereby report the nefarious activities of the Arteeste, Sir Christopher, at the Beltane festivities. These remarks of that varlet were addressed to the hussy who founded this thread, and to whom I now address my remarks, preceded by a quotation of his.

I feel the need as the evening progresses (and the
exposure of flesh with it), to inadvertently spill marshmallow
on you--upon which, I being a gentleman, of course it will be
my obligation immediately to clean it off. I trust my tongue
will suffice for the purpose? <lg>

(S&G thread -- notice the careful avoidance of the split
infinitive, Oxford notwithstanding!)

It should be clear to one and all that although this knight did avoid (as was his wish; i do not here take a position on the issue; and shall also, here, avoid any double entendres that might be suggested to the mind, on the eve of Beltane, by the phrase "take a position,")... excuse me, my mind wandered....

It must be noted that while the knight did avoid splitting the infinitive "to clean," he exercised no such skill with regard to the infinitive "to spill," having split it, shall we say, inadvertently.
