The possibilities here are endless. Removing the Lockheed block, which hung like an enormous sword over Loral's price, is just a huge positive. We know they want to sell it, and we know they need the cash to buy Comsat. It was going to get done one way or another. Putting it into Malone's hands at Liberty would be excellent. The man makes money. For him to make money here, we would have to make money. Plain and simple. He looks out for his investments. Check out the holdings at Liberty. They are extensive. Malone is associated with TCI/AT&T, and the @Home rumor of last year is getting thrown in here too. The Ka-band assets here include Loral's C* slots, Orion's Ka-slots and Ka-Star's slots, which, by the way, is an entity partially owned by TCI/AT&T, and for which Loral is manufacturing sats. News Corp. is the world's largest supplier of media content via its SKY platforms. GIC owns encryption technology inherited from TCI's HITS program. News Corp. owns a chunk of Echostar, as well as TV Guide. Liberty owns some News Corp. Echostar is supposedly talking with SES about two way internet service. SES has such a system in Europe(Astra-Net) that will have a Ka-band downlink. It's a twisted web of potential business. All speculative at best, but it certainly has potential.
