I assume your comment is based on the Server and Workstation roadmaps, which are not what most people call PC's. I believe Intel competes nicely with the Desktop PC competitors on price/performance, with no manipulation involved.

Check out this link, and note the price range of the systems, the feature sets, and try to comprehend the target customer. I know we have gone through this before, but try to understand that these products address a different market than AMD or Cyrix currently supports, a market with decidedly different cost structure than the desktop PC market.
