ETrade charges .01 per share for orders over 5000 shares. And the .01 is charged to the first 5000 - so you are hit with an additional $50 for trades over 5000 plus .01 for each share over the 5000 plus the 19.95 commission.

The following is a cut and paste from their commissions section.

<<Limit and stop orders are $19.95. For listed orders over 5,000 shares, add 1¢/share to the entire order. Add $15 for broker-assisted trades. Some firms may offer discounts and services not available at E*TRADE. Firms offering no-transaction-fee funds receive compensation from participating mutual fund companies.
