A tax question, if you have the books and the inclination to explain something not very difficult.

I know that short sales count as short term, no matter when you cover the short, but I think that profits on a put held over a year qualify for capital gains treatment. True or false?

In exchange I will offer my opinion as to whether Walt Whitman's poem "To a Locomotive in Winter" can be scanned as iambics or not--a question I feel sure is of great interest and deserving of generous fees to settle adequately.
