Oh, I don't doubt Whitney will suck so bad, even light can't escape (except through a quasar or something at the other end of the wormhole). Intel is incredibly lame in the media dept. Look at DVI vs. MPEG. Or MMX, and even KNI. It had me worried for a while (maybe they'll have a VLD instruction, or an AVG instruction, etc.) When the ISA (MMX, then KNI) finally went public, my reaction was a feeling of extreme disappointment. AltiVec has been the best media design so far, followed by Strong ARM 1500. As far as my being informed, well, check with the folks on the Cube thread as to that. I'll await the sound of bricks dropping from your direction. And no, Mpact was never sold off. I agree with your "b)" option. I'm not sure why I care about such a lame, uninteresting, uninspiring industry this has proven to be.
