<<<<<<The DJIA is trading in record territory this morning, spurred by economic data showing that the US economy continues to grow at a strong pace while inflationary pressures remain dormant. The positive outlook has fueled a broad-based rally that has helped the NASDAQ Composite retrace some this week's earlier losses

A surprisingly strong first quarter GDP number has pushed the price of
the benchmark 30-year Treasury 1 1/32 lower, lifting the yield to
5.56%. The Gross Domestic Product for 1Q99 expanded at an annualized
rate of 4.5% which was above the 3.5% forecast by the Thomson Global
Markets consensus estimate. The numbers look even stronger once the
international trade data is taken out - net exports subtracted 2.43
percentage points from the reading, the biggest drag since 1Q 1984.

On today's IPO scene, shares of Marimba (MRBA) and Applied Theory
(ATHY) remain halted this morning - both stocks are scheduled to begin
their first day of trading today. >>>>>>>>>>
