... but what if they wanted to buy every software company that produced software that directly worked with MSFT Word 7.0. Would this be considered a monopoly? Yes. What if they wanted to, oh say, buy a single software company that had dominant market share in personal finance management? Hmm. They tried to do that. They even promised to sell their own finance program to a competitor. That's just one tiny part of the broader market for software, but it didn't get past the FTC.
