Vic--- no I do not ask anyone but the biggest mistake in years was buying cpq and not taking a small loss instead of watching it tank-- think I'll add more under 20 and sell some of that expensive stuff to go against the gains nearly everywhere else. Buying down here should be fantastic,,, but those looking for 40+ this year are in dreamland,,, looking for lower before higher. Face it great companies can see their share price suck for a long time and too many people are wondering if cpq is going to remain great or be passed at least in pc sales. Granted pc sales are only part of cpq's rev but the brand name sells a ton of the big stuff. One effects the other--- realistically cpq here is a good buy-- anyone looking to recover high 30s or more can look well into 2000.. and it may not be there yet! The street is punishing it much more than the qtr deserves but the MID term outlook is fairly poor,, not much downside but a long way from a recovery--- and yes it needs turned around,, it is not just in a recovery situation... dead money--- yes and buried for awhile too...just pray Rosen stays healthy for the next few years and wants to play with his baby,,,

Victor, you are an annoying little knat. Jim is the only one on this thread who warned us about Compaq, certainly not yourself. Now you have the audacity to challenge Wayne who has correctly observed that Compaq has been dead money for the last two years. As Compaq sinks lower, you are getting more animated re "how many times Compaq has shot up in price?" or " how come they're still number one?" etc....

As to how many trading opportunities CPQ has "given" its hapless shareholders, I can say the same about thousands of stocks out there.

And re the rah rah rah about still being #1, it has nothing to do with that, you pompous, bigoted, overeducated idiot. It has to with earnings and earnings momentum, PERIOD..

I realize you are a bit of a celebrity on this thread, with the "interview" and all, but you have not helped anyone on this thread make a nickel. Instead you hammer away at JK. Absolutely pathetic. I eagerly await my next lesson in English Literature, failing any intelligent, pertinent response from the elbow-patched one.

Victor,

I rarely if ever recommend purchases of any stock at any price on these threads. If I have done so it was a lapse. I believe that each person should take responsibility for their stock picks. So you are misrepresenting me.

I am happy to see that you have received your just desert with your purchases of CPQ at $42 and $35.25 per share. Who knows this could be nature's consequence for your oral flatulence. <VBG>
