Ditto on the PC's I've owned; I've still got my 486-66 8MB up and running with Redhat Linux still; 8 years old. It's all a matter of quality of components. No doubt Sun uses quality components and no doubt DELL and friends use equally compribably components; Adaptec, Quantum, ATI, Creative, ... that's why I say it's a dead heat on RAS.

In fact if you independantly look at the situation, PC's may be better because if something did fail you can essentially call up any one of 100 PC stores in your city for replacement parts the same day.
