I must say that I find that very hard to believe (and I am very bullish on eBay). That is, that 1 in 20 packages sent between private individuals is an eBay related purchase.

I mean, I send out about 10 packages a week related to eBay, but how would the Postal Service know that? I don't put an eBay sticker or tag on the package.

And of the 100 or so packages that have been sent to me over the past year from items I have purchased through eBay auctions, not one of them has ever said eBay on the package.

So, clearly the post office is guessing.

And I believe they have guessed way too high. I would even find 1 in 100 to be hard to believe (but possible).

Nevertheless, when 1 million plus items are exchanging hands each week via eBay, that is a lot. And it demonstrates the kind of impact eBay is already starting to have.
