A copy of a letter just sent out to Eddie at TVERA, updating our efforts to continue Anthony and Fane's work in Skopje: Dear Eddie - Please let us know as soon as you can about the sound card and whatever else you need. Dusty may be able to leave for Skopje in just a few days. With Peggy's final okay, Dana and I would like to shoot for his leaving by May 18th. This is rushing things, but I know you need the help right away. The donor of the laptop wants me to let you know that he donated the money for this by being a participant on Anthony's board and being so impressed with what Anthony and Fane accomplished. I have just sent out the following letter to a group of 200 people who were aided by Dana in the past. I wrote them last night about the project, am now giving them the address to send contributions to, and will update them tomorrow. I do not expect to get a lot from this group, as many have suffered a lot of financial loss, but any we get will help. The letter is below. Lisa (remember that I post as "Raven") sent tonight: We have a green light and things are falling into place to help our Owl (Dana) get to Macedonia and volunteer help in the terrible Albanian refugee crisis. I am going to write another longer explanation tomorrow, hopefully after making more progress at our website at: geocities.com Today's update: 1. HUGE thank-yous to Chip, Fred, Mike, and Eric for quickly offering help. 2. We've encountered a miracle. I found out the TV station in Skopje that will be putting Dana and our other volunteer up (in real BEDS) badly needs a computer in their registration work with the refugees and other things. I put out the word, and a person who wishes to remain anonymous has donated $2500 to buy a new laptop! This is an indescribable windfall to a TV station trying so hard to help the world stay aware of the plight of these people. We will be ordering "space blankets" on Monday. Second volunteer, Dusty, may be leaving by the end of next week. We are hoping to see Dana off On May 17th or close. All donations are COMPLETELY TAX DEDUCTIBLE if made out to the church sponsoring us: "The Light of Christ Center" Be sure to write "Kosovar refugees"/Dana on the bottom. Our Mike is also building a website at: xlhelp.com However small it might have to be, I do so hope some of you will help make this project possible. The donations will go to the airfare to get our two volunteers over there, to the Mother Theresa organization, and to TV ERA. This is probably the most terrible human tragedy since the Holocaust, and this is a chance to contribute something and know exactly what it buys without one cent removed for administrative costs. We are also in BAD need of people to help us gather information. Thanks for caring about these victims and for thinking of our Owl - Raven
