Foxy:

The thing that Sam isn't telling you is that his batting average is better that twice as high as an excellent average. The pitchers must shudder when he steps to the plate. Kind of like the feeling the bear must have had looking at me start naked with my hair sticking straight up while carrying a "7-11 Special"!!!

As for my "outdoorsman" qualities, I love being in nature. I once asked a colleague how much he enjoyed camping and he replied, "I once stayed in a hotel with slow room service!" <ggg>! But if you saw me you wouldn't immediately leap to the conclusion that I belonged in the woods. I'm outdoorsy but I can navigate quite successfully in urban environments in a suit and tie... As the saying goes, "The hunter must be properly camoflaged (spelling???) to stalk his prey!"

I'm off for my steelheading trip next week with the same five guys with whom I have fished for 20 years! An amazing adventure. And don't worry Foxy... my abode is in safe hands!!! Anybody who wanted to mess with a guy who has faced down a grizz stark naked better reconsider who they are dealing with <ggg>!!! I'd give the shirt off my back to somebody in genuine need... but I don't take kindly to the rapid takeover technique of moving into my territory without first establishing rapport and mutual respect.

I wonder if there will be any Abacan surprises when I re-enter civilization. For five days, there is no contact with the global village. The "news" is limited to the river, the five guys in the cabin, the weather... and other primitive signals from mother nature!
