Anindo, re: EBAY, tech stocks. please not that my positive take on the tech stocks is very short term, as the whole group looks somewhat tired. with regards to EBAY, it has certainly paid well to be long this stock. but i have grave reservations regarding it's valuation, even though the business model is great and the margins enviable. EBAY has to contend with a growing list of competitors and i fear that in spite of it's leadership position it will be very difficult to grow into it's valuation. the one stock among the pure internet plays that gets an unreserved thumbs-up from me fundamentally is AMZN. this is due to the fact that it is the only one with really significant revenues, coupled with a strong brand name and truly amazing marketing prowess. in all likelihood it will become a one-stop shopping mall on the web with a far wider range of products than it currently offers. please note that i am not urging you to buy it right here and now, there will likely come better opportunities in the future. all i am saying is that this company is here to stay as the e-commerce leader. i picked some up yesterday as a short term trading position when i saw accumulation during the sell-off. but i will bail quickly as i perceive it as very risky, so i am not recommending this for imitation.

regards,

hb
