Jeff & all - NBTY
I've owned NBTY off and on for about 2 yrs. Luckily, I've been able to reduce my basis to sell at cost or a small profit...I still hold a few shares.
IMO the price is propped up due to the buy-back (financed by an increase in their revolvo)
Strangely enough, they also asked shareholders to approve an additional 100MM shares.
The last CC was ugly...one analyst was extremely irate, stating he would be back next Q when the price was even lower. Another analyst asked the CEO if his blind expansion was merely an ego trip!
The aggressive expansion in the face of declining margins and increasing competition may be another BOSTQ in the making.
Be careful here!
