That is a load of crap...who told you that one? If that were true internet companies etc. with large short positions would be doing that all the time. Show the thread the proof on that one.

second...normally if you're short a stock and a dividend is issued you must pay the dividend to the person you borrowed the stock from

Oh my god, you're actually sincere, aren't you? You actually think shorting works like that, that you're "borrowing" someone's shares! Unfortunately, it doesn't actually work that way.
