But, how to do you determine the "big" users? (Put them on a scale?) The highest bidder for a "terminal" is not necessarily the heaviest user. The example cited on this thread is aid workers. They use email. They might have an irid phone, or a G* phone, or an ico phone. But, they will avoid using it absolutely. I can assure you our donations to Save the Children will get a second look if I hear that they are the biggest G* customer!

Another example is Kramer from thestreet.com. From his vacation story. When irid has so few handsets available, apparently, how was he able to get his hands on one? (Well, maybe there was a surplus of handsets, given irid's other problems. Anyway...) Here is someone with money ($4,000 anyway) to burn on a phone that he would use twice a month. The last thing we need is for G*'s first 10,000 phones to get in the hands of a bunch of tassel-loafers and Hollywood hot-dogs. They won't use the system enough to make a dent in available minutes.

My guess is that the SP's will have to make some educated guesses as to their customers' telephone habits, aided by their knowledge of calling patterns that they have available to themselves.

(Note to Andmoreagain: That's one of the differences between irid and G*, is the SP's databases on customers' calling patterns.)

Maurice, on another topic: Have you read the discussion on the number of user terminals to be available in September? Do you have any info on this?
