Douglas, Thank you for the post! Excelent analysis of the Kosovo Crisis! I have to agree that the United Sates either didn't understood the Serbs during the Rambuillet, or didn't care! It is more likely that the State Department didn't even attamept to read Serbs, they didn't even care what the Serbs thought or felt! I remmber all Mr. Albrieght sentences ended with will bomb! Milosovic hoped for nothing else!! He worked hard to have NATO bomb Serbia! This was the only way he could have united the Servian people and saved his political carrier! Slobodan Milosovic's entire political carrier is based on Kosovo. In 1986, his boss, Ivan Stambolic, Serbian President at the time, asked him to go on State visit to Kosovo. He travelled to Kosovo Poljie and made his famous lecture, "They will not beat you again." At that prcise moment, he understood that there was his chance, to change "uniform!" form Communism tot Nationalism. Serbians liked what he said! He was the frist Serbian leader since 1945 that didn't talk aobut Jugoslavia. but Serbia! He made Kosovo his paltform on which he built his entire poltical carriere. For him giving away Kosovo would be the end of his political life. He and Mrs. markovic will end-up the same way as Mr. and Mrs. Ceaucescu did. And he knows that! Evrybody knows that, but he Red Necks that run the State Dept?? gg Milosovi's entire carrire has been built on starting fires and letting UN or Russians put it off. This time he may have made a fatal mistake. As far as Kosovo is concerned, it is "Alia Jacta Est" as said Juilus Ceasaar. Serbia has lost the moral and legal authority and sovergnity over Kosovo and Kosovars, and so his political carrier. At best, he may look forward to a quite old age in Isba in Nakhodka! gg Kind regards, yaacov
