Hello Confluence,

In this AM Halifax paper. Sorry no URL.

Basel Switzerland - International trade fair in Diamonds and Jewelery expected to garner thousands of purveyors.

Anthony Oppenheimer, one of the organizers of the World Watch,Clock and Jewelery show estimates that there will be 28 million marriages 69 million births and 880 million anniversaries, in the year 2000, not to mention informal commemorative occasions.

"The Diamond is recognized the world over as the ultimate symbol of love and romance and is the natural choice made by millions to mark those special moments".

The message is simple, he says. "The millennium is a massive sales opportunity for the jewelery industry".

A centerpiece of the show will be the Millennium Diamond Collection of Collections.

An estimated 2,500 exhibitors and 75,000 visitors from around the world are expected to attend. End of article.

Just a guess but that should be worth about a 10% increase in the price of Diamonds for Y2K. Maybe more if SA finds that DeBeers has been fudging the price all these years.

Cheers !!! Peter
