I agree, the QVGA viewfinder will be good.

Better, wrt power consumption.

I had a chance to check out a few of their demos last year (probably w/ Sound Vision on the camera, but I can't remember for sure). Since the sensor resolution is out of Kopin's control, I didn't focus my attention on that. Mainly I was interested in the utility of the viewfinder. It was fine - after you capture the image and switch to review mode, you're seeing it again in the same format as when you snapped the picture. You can then easily judge whether or not you 'caught' it right, lighting, angle, etc. Much better than reviewing on a 2" LCD.

The size of the virtual image was a little smaller than I had expected. If the image contained a full web page, reading it might be difficult for some people due to the character size, even with better resolution. The sample e-mail message shown on Kopin's website has ~16 lines of text full-screen, about the same as 1/4 of a webpage at VGA and 10-point font. I have some doubts about putting higher information content than that on the CyberDisplay.

This is how Kopin describes the apparent size:

Bright, Sharp Virtual Image equivalent to a 5.25 inch diagonal direct view display held at 18 inches from the eye.

With a VGA CyberDisplay, the virtual image will still be the same size but with better resolution, since size is a function of the optical system. 18 inches is a normal distance for PC viewing, so this is like having a screen only 40% as large as a 14" monitor (13.23" diagonal).
