Valueman, I agree this could be a major transaction. I am not as familiar with the players as you are and am now doing my homework. Would this in essence transfer all of Lockheed's ownership in Lor to Liberty? Wouldn't that remove the risk of Lockheed selling those shares on the open market and thus remove the so called overhang that has been hanging over Lor? If this is correct, then this is a very positive move indeed.

Is this an inexpensive way for Malone to get into Skybridge in FY 2001? He pays roughly what, $1.2 billion now, and gets access to not only Orion's capabilities, but also a whole new broadband delivery system via Skybridge? Could he be planning on being a new portal for the internet in competition with Teledesic? If Skybridge gets 6-7 million users, with a "Malone portal interface"...

Just speculation.
