People more knowledgeable than me have indicated that QCOM has expertise in the HDTV area left over from the M/A-Comm Linkabit days including patents in this area. The discussion came up on the QCOM thread about 30-45 days ago when exploring QCOMs relationship with Cinecomm and the next Starwars film.
