One thing I would try before starting over is partition the drive

Too late...I already reformated, copied my clone, and made new Drive Images. Everything is pretty much back to where I left it in short order since this was a utility drive with not much new files being added on a regular basis. The only real lost is the earlier Drive Images. I got tired of fooling around with LF and SR. They are excellent recovery apps though. It just turned out the specific files I wanted proved to be illusive. Maybe further perserverance would have triumphed, as you have indicated, but using the clone was easier at this point. I'm glad I have these file recovery apps on floppy for future debacles.

Now back to looking for stocks rather than files <g>

Thanks for your interest in my problem and turning me onto LF.
