Dave/Mad2,
I agree fully with you guys on this tulip mania.

I am trying to understand what would be barriers these
companies are building like AOL/AMZN/YHOO. I am starting to
beleive that branding and awareness about them would be a great
strength for them and would effectively build a moat around them.
The distribution network they are building is going to be a great
barrier for the new comers.

I am trying to think from a perspective of trying to
evaluate a company like McDonald and Coke about 30-40 years back.
Anyone could have said about McDonald, the food is not so tasty
and anyone could make it, no service, .... Imagine trying to sell
this to a potential franchiseee, asking for a royalty of about 8% sales. But their distribution network, branding and other promotions has created a moat around their business.

Can something like that happen with these Internut's which we
are not able to see right now, or if it is not there right now can
it lead to that moat ?
