Red Chip Report and Conference:

I have heard that Red Chip's most recent report on JMAR rates them a "C". They are not too optimistic in the short term but still recognize the long term home run potential of PXS.

I certainly don't think JMAR will be trading up this year based on 1999 earnings, but major product releases, customer relationships, spin-off could help the market realize JMAR's future potential this year. Perhaps JMAR will get those warrants turned in this year and get additional capital.

I listened to and took some notes on the Red Chip conference. Some random comments...

JMAR PSI:

Sounds as if they may have been getting some competitive pressure in the disk drive manufacturing market because they were not supporting "online" measurement and inspection sufficiently. "Online" refers to the fact that components are examined as they pass through the production process rather than taking samples off the production line to analyze. Many manufacturers are converting to 100 percent online inspection systems because it is critical to high production yields and improves product quality.

I believe JMAR has recently updated their software and ported to NT to increase the online percentage of their business, but they may be behind the curve. I am curious if perhaps QC Optics (http://www.qco.com/page7.html) or others may have been taking some of their business.

Soft X-ray:

- current x-ray lamps\tubes in the market sell for about $10,000
- JMAR's soft x-ray sources will be about 10,000 times more powerful

- people are coming to JMAR asking for the soft x-ray sources for their labs

Some applications of PXS:
- lithography
- tomagraphy: see the innards of semiconductors, while being processed
- photomask repair and inspection
- surface elemental mapping, analyze the type of impurities on a surface
- radiobiology

PXS:

- LLNL collimator gives them 10 times gain. Also working with XOS collimator.

- have a program to scale up up to 6 watts per beam(currently at 3 watts)

- in parralel they will be building beta sytem targeted 24 wafers per hour 300m (.07 to .13)

- expect 8 beam alpha Britelight before end of q2- 24watts - more if they get power up. Possibly up to 60 watts in 6 months.

- BriteLight1001 (the one released in Jan.) - Some companies said they feel there may be a market for those (PolyTec?) but not agressively pushing.
