The more erudite amongst us would no doubt recognize this as a quote from a rather famous book called "Coup d'Etat" by Edward Luttwak. It's a little atypical for a geek-type, but I very much enjoy political and economic philosophy. Maybe some time we could have a discussion on the moral foundations of authority in modern democracies?

Hey, here's another quote, a little oblique but still somewhat connected to the make-believe world of Bullettin-Board stocks...

"Under totalitarian conditions knowledge of the labyrinth of transmission belts [of the machinery of government] equals supreme power."

That's from "The Origins of Totalitarianism" by Hannah Arendt.
