Ish, I'm trying to race through many posts and can't find what happened to your new dog, but it sounds sad and I'm sorry. Almost everyone here has pets and understands perfectly about those emotions. I hate to think anyone feels they have to apologize for ANY thing like that here! And I think your meal sounded delicious. I 'd rather eat downhome food any day- my experiences with gourmet dining are usually aesthetically interesting and satisfying but not emotionally filling. I'll take the potato pancakes. My mother used to make them out of leftover mashed potatoes with a pat of butter melting on them. I miss that kind of cooking.
