While I agree that the transfer rate is 800 Mbits/sec for each data line, I claim the
maximum needed frequency is 400 Mhz.


This is exactly what I was trying to get clear when posting earlier today, i.e., that the maximum frequency signals running around on a motherboard with Rambus on it will be only 400 MHz, vs. 800 MHz, which the data rate alone could imply. In this case, less is better with regard to trying to control very high frequency signals. 800 MHz would be hellacious.
