Well, I certainly did not buy DELL for the splits. I could care less about splits. So by counterexample you are wrong.

DELL ran up to 55 because a lot of people thought that the Storage systems business was going to be immediately accretive. Unfortunately, that was a wrong perception. When people realized this was not the case the stock fell back.

DELL is driven by EPS growth. Revenue is nice but it is EPS that drives stock valuation for real businesses. The internut stocks are not yet real businesses. They are driven primarily by revenue growth since they have no EPS.

CPQ has revenue growth but they do not have the EPS growth. Hence, their stock is in the pits.

DELL can get EPS growth in many ways besides simple revenue growth. I am sure they will.

Joseph, Poor Joseph, even if you do mind my saying so, you sound like someone who is envious to have missed out on DELL's tremendous return to investors...don't fret...you can buy it monday before it gets much more expensive. Please join in our fun...it's worth it :)

Everything in your note, IMO, is incorrect. There will BE no split this earnings...the reason it went down 3 days before last earnings was Niles & Co coming out and downplaying revs and the industry in general (he had inside info about the revs obviously...a problem that dell has since fixed by adjusting sales incentives...), and most of the people who are reading your note don't buy dell because of split hype or any other hype. they buy it because it is THE pc industry leader in so many ways, and will continue to be...you know all the real reasons because you read this thread everyday.

Joe, your signature tells it all, <<Joe the loser>>, you, along with LT are to two most consistent contrarian indicators I've ever seen. If you ever turn positive on Dell, I will immediately divest my self of every single share! Please, stay negative so I can sleep at night!<gg>. Aloha.
