Two bad things or Off with their heads When Jane and James had the inquisition on Ask God, they decided that Emile was indeed a heretic and an infidel. When Emile responded to Jane and James, he decided they were with Satan. I take very little comfort from the fact that James and Jane declared Emile an evil heretic and shouted "Off with his head." For any newcomers to SI, please understand that religion here is unlike religion elsewhere, here we have XYZ and DD. You asked Bob to look, and I am sure he did. What he found was a person who expounds hateful opinions no more and no less ignorant than those of Jane, or Sydney at times for that matter. He does so with a forceful demonstration of his own personal status as a pariah. Like many before, and I am sure many hence, he does more harm than good for any cause he espouses. If Bob were to kick Emile off, he would have to go and get Dwight as well, maybe you don't understand that reference but many others will. Emile hates Judaism and Jews, Dwight hates homosexuals, Jane hates satanists, Chris hates those who don't believe him, James hates black people. Emile expresses his hatred through his religious fervor, his frequent uses of words like black and satanic and his repeated references to the evil of Judaism. Your attitude towards Emile is certainly not incorrect, but to single him out would be wrong. A community will contain Emiles, it isn't Bob's job to censure Emile, it is ours. Emile is a bad thing, throwing Emile off SI would be a bad thing, not because he is Emile, but because he is not Dwight or Chris or Jane or James or even Sydney for that matter. There will be bad things, you are however doing a good thing by pointing out that Emiles posts are full of hate and are not worth reading. I am doing a good thing by pointing out that you are entirely correct and your posts are worth reading, two bad things, two good things. This matter has been discussed at great length here on SI, in fact we had a thread devoted to nothing but that subject, Emile. The views represented by characters like Emile comes in many different flavours, they are a facet of SI. Cavalry comes to mind.
