I don't think so, Edwarda. People have been thrown off SI permanently for far less. When you join SI, you agree to subscribe to the Terms of Use, and thus voluntarily limit your freedom of speech when you are on SI.

You can get bounced for calling someone a "shithead", say. So why not bounce someone for calling a whole group of people "shitheads"? Because it is not "personal"? Well, I'll bet that a lot of Jews on SI do take it personally -- and many non-Jews, like myself, do too.

Sorry Edwarda, it is not protected by law. SI's right to publish his poison is protected. But the law does not require SI to publish this venom. There is a big difference.

My recollection is that, up until recently, at least, people kept debating EE, and even invoking his name from time to time. I am not going to name names, they know who they are, and must have had their reasons for doing so. If anyone were going to be shunned, or banned, EE is top on my list. But I do think it's so odd how vicious FT is towards jbe, it turns my stomach.
