Mohan and Satish I was hit by a drunk driver in 1989. put me in the hospital for a month and out of commission for another 5. A friend gifted me 'the satanic verses'. Prior to that, i read mainly tech lit. once i started reading satanic verses, i could not put it down. i wanted to know what would come next and where rushdie would venture since he went from bombay to foreign lands and from present to imidiate past and way way back into mythical history. Many people have mentioned that it was a difficult read. But i found it quite challenging and interesting to keep track of, and associate the various characters from differing times. Now i am back to tech lit. only but your posts have prompted me to look into these books again. ratan
