gyp:

You should stay. Only the real daytraders will keep this thread alive. If the chief keeps moderating the thread the way he does, I think the thread will continue to be of value.

I try not to post to the thread often. If I do, I hope I don't come across as a spammer. I usually take long positions in stocks that are talked about here. My problem is I don't have the technology or the experience to know when to get out. I'm just starting to understand the concept of setting stops. I look to folks like you/Keith/Olga/The Chief/Rocket Red/Ed P.(aka 'The Chief')/Buckey for exiting strategies on stocks that I've picked up 'cause of this thread.

Don't leave. Your input is valuable. Just let the chief keep reminding us every once in a while what the thread is about. It seems to work.

Hey gyp, I appreciate your point of view and I probably shouldn't even get into this discussion because I haven't been daytrading or posting for awhile now because of work obligations...and I agree with most of what you guys are saying but one thing I would hate to see lost, is the light banter and humour that goes on. Even sometimes, the off topic / inappropriate posts are worthwhile (okay don't flame me for this). I know sometimes many of these seem like 'wasted posts' but in my humble opinion, it adds humanity and camaraderie to what what can be a very intense and lonely activity. Also, the banter gives some insight into the person behind the trade, and even with the people who are off topic - it gives a person some sense of whether or not to pay attention in subsequent posts that may be on topic. It helps me evaluate where people are coming from and where they may end up! <ggg> Although I'm not sure that you disagree with this as long as the discussion centers around MOMO stocks?

There is no doubt, in my mind, even though one sometimes needs to scan through useless posts (yeah, like this one), that this is one of the best threads on SI. It has everything; a strong moderator, valuable 'science', good intuition, gut-wrenching honesty, interesting characters and humour. I particularly liked this,http://www.neo-tech.com/penis/ but I must have missed the posts with the results. Okay, gone back to lurking now!

Regards,
Sharron

The one thing I find the most valuable on this thread is the heads ups posts - These are on stocks that are doing something odd that we will not notice unless we know the stox well.

This is activity that does not show up as we seach the % gainers and losers and the volume leaders.

example: my two heads ups that tunred out to be false alarms.

HPC was being bought up by Nesbitt on low volume - it becausme an overnight $200 gain for me. It had activated from .32ish all the way to .49 - I posted the heads up at .40ish.

same on NWI - It bounced higher than the pre - bad NR price which to me was very odd. I got in and out on the false alarm for no profit.

I know these two stocks very very weel and will notice anything out of the ordinary - HPC had done nothing in a month. Most other would not even have it on their ticker.

I am sorry both of these did not tunr out better as I have shares of both in the LT accts and I bough and traded them when they perkled up.

I alwasy check the HEADS UP posts. esepcially by the good TA guys
